This summer, Julia is contributing to the Emergency Preparedness team at Energy Harbor - Davis-Besse Station. Her days are filled with assisting in Emergency Response drills and participating in the implementation of a new Emergency Response Plan. Through her co-op experience, Julia is playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community surrounding the nuclear power plant.

When it comes to maximizing the potential of summer internships or co-ops, Julia's advice is simple—choose a field that genuinely interests you. By aligning your co-op experience with your passions, you'll be more motivated to learn, grow and contribute meaningfully. Embrace the opportunity to explore and apply your knowledge in a real-world setting, allowing you to develop crucial skills.

When it came to landing a co-op position, Julia utilized various resources available to University of Akron students. She explored Handshake, a platform connecting students with internships and co-op opportunities. Additionally, Julia tapped into the power of word-of-mouth and was fortunate to receive an email from Dr. Willett, who played a pivotal role in helping her secure her summer co-op position.

Julia's co-op experience at Energy Harbor - Davis-Besse Station provides her with a unique opportunity to gain professional knowledge in emergency response and further enhance her understanding of Emergency Management. She aspires to build strong connections within the nuclear power industry and collaborate with external agencies. Through this co-op, Julia is cultivating her skills and expanding her professional network.
