Introducing Carley: Ziptern Extraordinaire at The J.M. Smucker Company!

This summer Carley is working her magic as an analyst intern in Smuckers' logistics department. How cool is that? Carley is right in the heart of the action, working directly with raw materials at the Heritage Plant located in Orville, OH. Her daily tasks involve scheduling inbound deliveries, coordinating transportation with carriers and building MRP trackers. Talk about being a vital part of the team!

From Campus Career Fair to Summer Internship

Curious about how Carley found this incredible opportunity? She attended our campus career fair last fall, and that's where the magic began. Carley landed a co-op position with The J.M. Smucker Company, and her exceptional performance during her co-op rotation led to an internship offer for this summer. Way to go, Carley!

Now, let's talk about the exciting projects Carley is tackling during her internship. She's all set to assist the plant with the rollout of a new warehouse management system. That's a big responsibility, and we have no doubt that Carley is up to the challenge. Her dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspiring!

Of course, no internship journey is without its share of challenges. Carley has faced unexpected delivery delays and appointment conflicts, which can seriously disrupt production at the plant. But she's a problem-solving champ! Carley rises to the occasion by effectively communicating between the receiving department and carriers to find solutions. We're proud of you, Carley, for your resilience and determination in overcoming obstacles!

Carley's internship at The J.M. Smucker Company has not only given her a taste of supply chain operations but has also provided her with insights into various departments within the industry. She's broadening her horizons and gaining knowledge in other fields outside of her major. That's the beauty of internships – they allow you to explore and grow!

For future Zips embarking on their own internship journey, Carley has some fantastic advice. First and foremost, make connections! Network with your fellow interns and professionals in your field. Attend intern events and take advantage of any opportunities to expand your circle. Remember, you're never alone in this journey.

And don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Internships are a time of learning and growth, and seeking guidance is a sign of strength, not weakness. Carley encourages you to embrace the learning experience and soak up as much knowledge as possible.

We couldn't be prouder of Carley and her achievements this summer. Her dedication, passion and willingness to take on new challenges are a testament to the exceptional students we have here at The University of Akron. Keep shining, Carley – we can't wait to see what the future holds for you!
